Portland Trail Blazers Through the Lens of Bruce Ely presents a selection of photographs from Portland-based sports photographer Bruce Ely, whose work documents the energy, focus, and quieter moments surrounding the game.

Best known as the team photographer for the Portland Trail Blazers, Ely brings a perspective shaped by years of access, trust, and observation. This exhibition includes both documentary-style images and more composed works, offering a look at the people, rhythm, and atmosphere behind one of Portland’s most recognizable teams.

Rather than focusing only on the peak action of the game, Ely’s work often finds meaning in the moments around it: the pause before movement, the exchange between teammates, the weight of preparation, and the emotion that sits just outside the spotlight. The result is a body of work that captures not only what happened, but what it felt like to be there.

About the Artist:

Bruce Ely is a Portland, Oregon-based photographer specializing in sports photography. His passion lies in showing the quiet storytelling moments of sports, work that requires patience, trust, and a close understanding of the environment he is photographing.

Ely is currently the team photographer for the Portland Trail Blazers and has been commissioned to create images for Nike, adidas, Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, MLB, Netflix, Newsweek, and other publications and companies.
