Apex Clearing
Apex Clearing’s Portland office brings a warm Pacific Northwest sensibility to a Chicago-based tech company, blending vintage character with clean, contemporary lines. The team needed a workplace that supports seamless workflow across programming, management, and administrative groups while still feeling energized, creative, and human.
Located in downtown Portland’s historic Meier & Frank building, the design balances preservation requirements with flexibility. Modular furniture and custom stacked benches support collaboration at multiple scales, while booth seating with built-in outlets doubles as a quiet work zone. Rich reds and cognac leather add warmth, balanced by bright walls and a curated collection of contemporary art.
What we did: We led the project from concept and space planning through finishes and custom furniture solutions, managing procurement and coordinating closely with an out-of-state team to deliver a flexible workplace within a historic building framework. This project was designed in partnership with Kathy Taslitz.
